I’ve had a first peek at the cover for The Modest Proposal Institute: No More Empires, made some suggestions, and it’s looking good. A revised after-proofreading file has gone to the formatters so the schedule is also looking good for a launch on April 16 or 23rd. The final parts of the process are coming together nicely.
That brings me to what I wanted to say in today’s post. Would you like to be part of the book’s Launch Team? If so, post on this page, or my Facebook or Twitter pages, your interest. If you’re really committed, send me your email address (preferably by private message so you’re not putting it ‘out there’) and I’ll add you to the Launch Team.
You may be wondering what being on a Launch Team entails? It’s very simple and not too hard. First, I’ll send you a free copy of the book about one week before the publishing date. You read it (or skip through:-) and write 2 – 3 sentences about the book. Second, I tell you when the book is published and on or shortly after that day, you copy and paste your 2-3 sentences on the book’s page on Amazon. That’s it and for that you will receive my grateful thanks!!
I’m just home from vacation and the proofreading file has arrived. As well, the cover designer has provided ideas for No More Empires‘ cover. Now the exciting part begins — preparing No More Empires for publication.
One of the pleasures of being a self-publishing author is the royalty notifications from Amazon that arrive each month. Not enough to live on, admittedly, but, more importantly, proof people are buying my book. I’m told that sales for a series don’t take off until buyers are sure the author is going to deliver the whole series, which happens somewhere around Book 4. I have my work cut out for 2019 already lol.
For those of you who haven’t yet bought your copy of The Modest Proposal Institute, you can find it here.
Book 2: No More Empires (working title) is with the proofreader, expected back later this week, which will work out well because that’s when I’ll be back home too. Authoring while traveling isn’t as easy as it sounds, which is why this week’s blog post is a day late.
A bit about book 2. Book 2 takes the story from where Alexis left off at the end of The Modest Proposal Institute and moves it forward about another five years but this time from Shane’s point of view. The two rivals have each chosen different paths for their future lives, Alexis is going into space and Shane under the sea. However, there’s a third protagonist, Tomas, who has a different view for the Institute’s future, one that threatens to bring down destruction on all of them.
For those of you following along, I received the content editors suggestions two days ago and have spent most of the time since ‘accepting’, ‘rejecting’, and changing Book 2 (working title: No More Empires) based on the editor’s thoughts. It’s exhausting, believe it or not.
Good news is I’ve sent the revised book back now for proofreading, which will be about another two weeks. Meantime, I need to get the title finalized and the cover being created. On balance, I think working for a living might actually be easier:-)
Meanwhile, for those of you who have been procrastinating, you can get the first book here.
My next book in The Modest Proposal Institute series, working title is No More Empires, is now with a Content Editor, who will check it for story continuity and have it back to me by the end of the coming week. After that, I’ll act on the editor’s suggestions and/or comments and then send it out for proofreading. Meanwhile, I need to get a cover designer started on what it might look like when finished. It’s a busy life being an author:-)
For those of you who still haven’t bought the first book (you know who you are:-), you have another opportunity to read and review it through NetGalley right now. Here’s where you’ll find it:
